Yehezkiel 3:17

3:17 “Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman ¹  for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must give them a warning from me.

Yehezkiel 20:23

20:23 I also swore ²  to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them throughout the lands. ³ 

[3:17]  ¹ tn The literal role of a watchman is described in 2 Sam 18:24; 2 Kgs 9:17.

[20:23]  ² tn Heb “I lifted up my hand.”

[20:23]  ³ sn Though the Pentateuch does not seem to know of this episode, Ps 106:26-27 may speak of God’s oath to exile the people before they had entered Canaan.
